Layers

Lately I’ve been thinking about Christ, wisdom, and the process of becoming.

Jesus entered the world in humble circumstances, yet by his early years he was carrying a depth of wisdom that challenged the religious and social understanding of his time. He spoke about God, about the kingdom within, about becoming more than the identities we inherit. And for that, he was scrutinized, challenged, and ultimately persecuted.

It makes me think about how we become who we are.

Most of the sages, philosophers, and great thinkers we remember were shaped by years of living, questioning, suffering, learning, loving, losing, and overcoming. Their wisdom wasn’t simply given to them. Life expanded their capacity to hold it.

Maybe that’s part of what our trials are doing for us too.

We go through experiences that peel back layer after layer of who we thought we were. Like an onion, we keep peeling. The ego. The fear. The conditioning. The identities. The expectations. Until eventually, we begin to recognize something underneath all of it that was there the entire time.

Self-knowledge becomes spiritual knowledge.

Because the deeper we come to know ourselves, the more we begin to recognize the divine within us. Not that we are separate from Source, but that we are expressions of it, experiencing itself through this physical existence.

And maybe this physical realm isn’t “lower” because it is less valuable. Maybe it is simply denser. More separated. A place where contrast gives us the opportunity to experience, learn, remember, and return.

So I’m learning not to resent the process.

The pressure expands the vessel. The trials reveal the layers. The love reminds us what was underneath them all along.

We are all becoming. And perhaps the journey isn’t about becoming something we’ve never been.

Perhaps it’s about remembering what we already are.

Thanks for reading my loves,

-Trice
